MLK & the International Association for the Advancement of Creative Mal-adjustment

“I never intend to become adjusted to religious bigotry.

I never intend to adjust myself to economic conditions that will take necessities from the many to give luxuries to the few.

I never intend to adjust myself to the madness of militarism, to the self-defeating effects of … violence.

In other wordstreetart47-485x650s, I’m …  convinced … there is a need for a new organization in our world:

The International Association for the Advancement of Creative Maladjustment.”

                                                           Martin Luther King, Jr

Editor’s Note:  That man really has a way with words, also has a moral compass that points true north.

The oath I took as a student nurse, and again many years later as a midwife, was also simple:

“I will not seek to protect myself from the risks and burdens associated with my profession and my duties by passing the inherent risks and burdens of my professional role on to the childbearing woman &/or her unborn or newborn baby.”

For better or worse, we really are our brothers and sisters keepers, not because we are “do-givers” but because the only reason to do the right thing is because it is the right thing to do.
